What Our Parents Say…

Meet Your Mentor

Miriam Patrick

Miriam has been teaching Latin for 14 years and ESOL for three years. She has a Bachelor's in Latin and a Master's in Latin and in Special Education. Miriam also has varying levels of proficiency in a few languages: English, Latin, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, American Sign Language, and Arabic. To say that language is a passion, is probably an understatement.

Having taught in public schools my classes are often filled with disabled students, English language learners, and neurodivergent students and she thoroughly enjoys working with learners of all kinds.

Miriam believes anyone can acquire a language as long as that language is provided in an understandable way, the material is compelling (not just interesting), and students can see themselves in the class. In addition to being experienced and educated in disability and neurodivergent education, she is also disabled and neurodivergent herself and will be a valuable addition to our YSA team.
